Laika is northern hunting dog, the most common in Asia and Europe. A small hieght (at the shoulder to 65 inches), strong body structure make Laika indispensable hunters and sled dogs. However, some of huskies are only suitable for riding, or only for hunting (Russian-European Laika). There are also other kinds of such an amazing breed of huskies.

The most famous laika, bred specifically as a sled dog is Husky or Siberian Husky. Very popular Huskies are in Chukotka. In the harsh north Huskies brought tremendous assistance in helping to transport goods over long distances in teams of fifteen or more dogs. In the early 20 th century Huskies have participated in dog-sled race in Alaska. Over time the breed Hound has been added to Husky and the resulting breed has a unique, unparalleled sled dog with excellent racing characteristics.

Yakut Laika is the dog with a thick coat and undercoat, has been bred for the arctic cold. In contrast to the Huskies Yakut Laika is a great hunter both big game (bear, seal) and also birds. In the color of the Yakut Laika white with the addition of gray, red or black colors present.

Russian-European Laika was launched into the territory of Russia in the mid 20 th century and refers to Spitz. Accordingly, the external appearance characteristics are similar to the characteristics of Spitz.

East Siberian Laika is specially hunting Russian breed. It is ideal for hunting fur-bearing animals, but can also be used as a sled. East Siberian husky was bred in Siberia back in the 19th century.

The breed of huskies is quite diverse: the Finnish Spitz, West Siberian, Norwegian elk (black and gray) and many others. All of them are the irreplaceable assistants for a person in different circumstances and situations.
