Bobtail is one of the remarkable and amazing breed of herding dogs, which was got with the participation of briard and South Russian Ovtcharka. Officially this breed has appeared in England only at the end of 19th century (1888 year). In other countries Bobtail was an exotic breed almost till the middle of 20th century.
The distinctive feature of this breed is tail no longer than 5 centimeters, “docked” tail-hence the name Bobtail.
Bobtail is clean and strong dog with well-developed musculature. All body, including head is covered with stiff hair of original color: from white to marble blue with dark almost black spots. The hair of such quality needs thorough care, every day combing and periodic bathing. If bobtail is not combed for a long time, its undercoat will felt in watertight layer. Thanks to the structure of hair this breed could stand even very cold temperatures and heat, it could live in any climate.
Bobtails are very clever and devoted dogs with easy disposition. As this breed is created to watch over numerous herds, help to herdsman with cattle, it is irreplaceable as a nanny. Because of this reason, for example, in Great Britain these dogs were often acquired in child institutions for helping to upbring children. This dog is created for work and it will follow any order of its owner with great pleasure, if it is possible to express in such a manner to the dog. Bobtails at the genetic level adore their family where they live: owners, children and other pets, whether it is cat or other dog.
